Every April 21st, we do more than just celebrate Kartini Day by wearing kebaya and sanggul. We honor the spirit of Raden Ajeng Kartini in her fight for women’s rights to have control over their own lives. In today’s era, that control manifests in a very tangible form: financial independence.
Being an independent woman is not just about having a brilliant career or a stable income. Beyond that, independence is about how we prepare ourselves before the storm arrives. We know that life’s risks such as illness, accidents, or loss of income can strike anyone regardless of gender. However, for a woman, having protection in her own name is proof that she is empowered and ready to maintain her life's stability under any circumstances.
There is one reality that is often overlooked: statistically, women are blessed with a longer life expectancy. While this is a blessing, it also serves as a reminder that our journey through life will be longer. Without proper preparation and protection, a long old age can become a financial challenge. By having our own protection, we are actually securing a more peaceful future where we retain full control over our lives.
As women, we often habitually put the needs of others above our own. We ensure our children, partners, or parents are protected, yet we forget that we are our own most valuable asset. Having personal protection is not a form of selfishness; quite the contrary. It is the highest form of love for our family because, by protecting ourselves, we ensure that we do not become a financial burden to them when risks occur.
Independence does not mean we have to carry everything alone; it is about the courage to decide how we want to live our lives. On this Kartini Day, let us pause to appreciate ourselves and start taking real steps toward long-term protection. For women, having protection is not just a number on paper—it is an investment of self-love so that we can face the future with greater peace of mind.
Together with PFI Mega Life, let us celebrate the courage to keep growing, stay independent, and remain protected through every phase of life. We believe that when a woman is protected, she is not only guarding herself but also safeguarding the peace of mind of her entire family.
