Samdarshi Sumit

President Director

Samdarshi Sumit is a President Director of PT PFI Mega Life Insurance. Prior to his current role, he was the Managing Director of Generali Insurance and Banking for 4 years. Samdarshi has lived and worked in India and Vietnam. Now, in 2019 he lives in Indonesia.

Samdarshi is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Indore and spent his early corporate years at HDFC Bank, the largest bank in India by market cap of over 100Bn. He also worked in the areas of Retail Lending, Branch Banking, Priority Banking, and Wealth Management & Bancassurance during this period.

Interestingly, despite his ambitious on works area, he also pursues some interests in Yoga and one of the Triathlete. He has completed his first Ironman 70.3 on early 2019.

Budi Darmawan

Director of Distribution

Budi Darmawan has served as Director of Distribution at PFI Mega Life since 2025. He is responsible for developing distribution strategies and business partnerships, as well as expanding access to insurance products for the Indonesian public through innovative and customer-oriented distribution channels.

With more than 30 years of experience in the financial services and insurance industry, Budi has held various strategic positions at leading multinational companies. His main focus is on building strong distribution networks, developing high-performing sales teams, and delivering protection solutions that are relevant to the needs of different market segments.

Prior to joining PFI Mega Life, Budi held director-level and other senior positions at several major life insurance companies, including AXA, Manulife, and Zurich, where he successfully achieved significant growth in premium contributions and the quality of distribution services.

At PFI Mega Life, Budi is known as a visionary leader who promotes cross-functional collaboration. He believes that financial literacy and access to protection are essential foundations for creating a safer and better-planned financial future for all Indonesian families.

Budi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI) which is equivalent to an Ahli Asuransi Indonesia Jiwa (AAIJ), and a Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF). He actively participates in various training programs and certifications in distribution leadership and business development.

Makki Ibrahim Kusuma

Director of Compliance

Makki Ibrahim Kusuma is an experienced corporate lawyer with strong expertise in mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions, and the insurance industry. For more than two decades, he has provided strategic advisory services to multinational companies, led legal and compliance functions, and developed business partnerships across Southeast Asia.

Makki has played a key role in major transformations within Indonesia’s insurance industry, ranging from building high-performing teams and strengthening corporate governance frameworks to driving operational efficiency. His experience covers legal, compliance, corporate secretarial, and risk management functions across Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

His professional philosophy is: “The future is simplicity.” He believes that GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) should consistently enable innovation and new ideas by establishing agile legal and governance structures that can adapt to evolving times and ongoing business transformation.

Makki holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Tarumanagara University and has completed multiple professional certifications, including Qualified Risk Governance Professional (QRGP), Insurance Broker Level 5 & 6, and APAI certification. His career includes senior roles in reputable organizations such as Avrist Assurance, AirAsia SEA, Pasarpolis, Igloo, and several leading law firms.

He was also recognized with the Insurance Top Leader for Product Development (2018) award for his contributions to product innovation in the insurance industry.

Meilani Setiawan

Finance Director

Meilani joined in November 2018 as a Director of Finance, she is responsible for all financial aspects including investment management. Previously, Meilani held the role of Chief Finance and Strategic Officer since 2015 at Adira Insurance in charge of financial control, investment management, and corporate strategy and planning.

Meilani began her career as an auditor at Coopers & Lybrand - Siddharta & Siddharta and Arthur Andersen - Prasetio Utomo & Co. She held several financial positions for 7 years working at PT Schlumberger Oilfield Services Indonesia with her last position as Assistant Controller and 10 years working at PT Marsh Indonesia (Marsh McLennan Company) with her last position as Finance Director.

She holds an investment manager representative license from Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK). She holds a Master of Business Administration from Colorado State University.
